This collection brings together six ballets from revered Danish choreographer . Included here are Déjà vu, Solo, Kammerballett, The Old Man and Me, Frank Bridge Variations, and Two Pieces for Het. Interviews with Van Manen help fill out this set that includes performances by both the Het National Ballet (HNB) and Netherlands Dance Theatre ().


Born on 11 July 1932 Hans van Manen became one of the famous Dutch ballet dancers and choreographers. In 1960 he founded the Nederlands Dans Theater and was its art director from 1961 until 1970. From 1974 until 1987 he worked for the . He was awarded the Deutschen Tanzpreis in 1993, the Erasmus Prize in 2000 and in 2004 the Musikpreis der Stadt Duisburg. His work includes more than 90 choreographies. In barely two years’ time, between June 1995 and June 1997, he created six masterpieces in a row which were later produced by NTR Television and are included in this DVD.
