The Noverre: Young Choreographers 2024 evening was a landmark showcase of fresh, experimental dance. Held on May 25, 2024, at the State Theater Stuttgart’s Schauspielhaus, the event was also streamed worldwide via a live digital broadcast.

This legendary platform, which has been fostering artistic growth since 1961, allowed both Stuttgart Ballet ensemble members and global guest creators to experiment freely without the commercial pressure to succeed.

The Stuttgart Ballet provided the selected young artists with full institutional backing, including professional studio time, custom lighting design, wardrobe resources, and access to the company’s elite dancers. The 2024 program stood out for its emotional vulnerability, sharp contrasts, and heavy integration of contemporary movement concepts into classical training.

The program featured seven brand-new, original pieces that showcased a massive diversity of styles:

  • „Zwischen Wind und Asphalt“ () – A highly physical, urban-tinged contemporary piece exploring boundaries.
  • „Le Piège de Gaspard“ () – An intricate work utilizing dramatic tension and atmospheric timing.
  • „10 Minutes of Silence“ () – A conceptual exploration of internal stillness versus external noise.
  • „Trepidation“ () – A fast-paced, high-anxiety physical display of human vulnerability.
  • „Heaven Sent“ () – An ethereal, emotionally charged work focusing on lifting and fluid symmetry.
  • „And so am I“ () – A deeply personal, reflective study on identity and presence.
  • „Stand by me“ () – A poignant, collaborative piece highlighting solidarity and mutual support under pressure.

The 2024 edition was praised for its balance of risk-taking and technical excellence. Historically, pieces debuted at Noverre are frequently adopted directly into the permanent repertoire of the Stuttgart Ballet or picked up by international touring companies, making this particular 2024 roster a definitive sneak peek at the future of global choreography.
