All Lang is a compelling triple bill celebrating the artistry and creative vision of Jessica Lang, Resident Choreographer of the Pacific Northwest Ballet. Bringing together three distinctive works – Her Door to the Sky, Ghost Variations, and ZigZag – the programme showcases the remarkable breadth of Lang’s choreographic language, from lyrical abstraction and emotional intimacy to vibrant theatricality and exuberant musicality.
Each ballet presents a unique artistic world while revealing Lang’s signature fusion of classical ballet technique with contemporary movement. Inspired by the paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe, Her Door to the Sky is a radiant celebration of colour, light, and landscape. Set to the music of Benjamin Britten, the ballet features scenic design by Jessica Lang herself, costumes by Bradon McDonald, and lighting by Nicole Pearce, creating a luminous visual environment that reflects the openness and serenity of O’Keeffe’s artistic vision.

In striking contrast, Ghost Variations explores the final creative period of Robert Schumann through music by Robert and Clara Schumann. Created during the global pandemic, the ballet reflects themes of memory, loss, resilience, and human connection. Minimalist costume design by Jillian Lewis and atmospheric lighting by Reed Nakayama focus attention on the dancers’ expressive movement and emotional depth.
Completing the programme is ZigZag, an energetic and jazz-inspired ballet set to the timeless songs of Tony Bennett, including a recording with Lady Gaga. Filled with wit, elegance, and theatrical charm, the work evokes the glamour of classic American entertainment while remaining unmistakably contemporary. Scenic design by Derek McLane incorporates artwork created by Tony Bennett himself, while costumes by Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera and lighting by Nicole Pearce complete the sophisticated visual aesthetic.
Performed by the dancers of Pacific Northwest Ballet, All Lang demonstrates Jessica Lang’s exceptional versatility as a choreographer. Uniting music, movement, and visual design into three contrasting artistic experiences, the programme offers an engaging portrait of one of today’s most celebrated voices in contemporary ballet.
