The Sacral Dance

By In Dance 1 hour 52 min

The Sacral Dance is production created by Christophe Béranger et Jonathan Pranlas-Descours for the infamous Compañia de Danza Contemporánea de Cuba. The performance was performed at the historic Garcia Lorca Theater in Havana and features Cuban drumming paired with Igor Stravinsky’s time-honored score ‘The Rite of Spring’ – making this production very close to home for the 60 year-old company and its long legacy. The strong presence of Stravinsky’s tune contrasts with two scenes, “The Adoration of the Earth” and “The Sacrifice” France.TV notes that the piece shows “… the interweaving of these two dimensions, the ritual and the magic, [is] implemented in this creation [and] supported by songs.” and the direction of Miguel Iglesias Ferrer.
