Allegria

Served by eight performers and the raw energy of dance, Kadder Attou brings a whiff of optimism in his new work, Allegria, a breathtaking and inventive ode to choreographic joy.

Allegria tells us about a grim world with absolute nimbleness. Katter Attou has tracked down poetry where it is, inside the dancers' bodies and flowing movements, which delineate the joy of dancing in space. Beginning with the smallest movement of every day life, they fly off to a dreamland filled with eerie chimera. creates a fantasy world in an affecting and funny way, appealing to the child in us and cultivating the absurd and the impossible. Inspired by graphic novels, magical singspiel and cinema, he has the eight performers go through eight scenes which depict a dancing humanity in a diaphanous world full of light and shadows, suffused with the mere magic of the lighting.

Drawing a new aesthetic – virtuosic but sometimes tinged with tenderness and melancholia – from his hip hop language, Attou transcends every day life through dance. A way to confront the world by warding off the dark forces looming ahead.
