At the invitation of the Théâtre de la Ville and the Théâtre du Châtelet, (LA)HORDE presents a program with the Ballet national de Marseille. The performance consists of the work of four different choreographers, all offering a plural and complementary style: Lucinda Childs, Tania Carvalho, Lasseindra Ninja and Oona Doherty – each embodying their own iconic, inclusive and engaged choreography. An inclusive form between expressionist plasticity and the “social bodies” of nowadays in physical theatre, connecting the avant-garde of Postmodern Dance and the French pioneer of Ball culture. Through this plurality of choreographies and of generations between these four artists, (LA)HORDE defines again the horizons of a sweeping dance, passing from extremely structured to extremely fiery.
An encounter between two conceptions of dance. On the one hand, the hype surrounding Oona Doherty – the prodigy of Belfast’s realistic, urban and energetic dance – and Lasseindra Ninja – the queer icon of Voguing dance in France – who, for the first time, creates a piece with a group of dancers. On the other hand, the thoroughness and clarity of Lucinda Childs and Tânia Carvalho who start from overall pictures, hereby sharing a keen sense of line and rhythms.
