Created in 2022 for The Royal Ballet, The Weathering is American choreographer Kyle Abraham‘s second work on the Main Stage, following Optional Family: A Divertissement in 2021. The Weathering features 11 dancers of the Company and was created with composer Ryan Lott, costume designer Karen Young and lighting designer Dan Scully. Exuberant vitality intertwines with poignant loss in this abstract ballet about remembrance and connection.
As well as creating works for his own dance company A.I.M, Abraham has made creations for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and New York City Ballet and has choreographed solos for American Ballet Theatre Principals Misty Copeland and Calvin Royal III. In November 2013 he also choreographed Beyonce’s British Vogue cover shoot.
